Professional development and clinical growth

A reflective overview of my counseling philosophy, clinical theory application, advocacy work, leadership roles, and intentional wellness practice in clinical mental health counseling.

Counseling philosophy and clinical theory

At the center of my clinical approach is the foundational belief that every individual deserves supportive care and the opportunity to grow. Grounded in person-centered counseling and motivational interviewing, my practice prioritizes reflective listening, genuine empathy, and non-judgmental validation. I utilize thoughtful, open-ended questions to empower clients on their journey of self-exploration, embracing therapeutic silence as a meaningful space for reflection and insight.

Advocacy, leadership, and mentorship

My dedication to community wellness is demonstrated through diverse professional and volunteer experiences. Prior to entering graduate clinical training, I served as an investigator advocating for vulnerable adults navigating abuse, neglect, and exploitation by collaborating closely with community agencies. In addition, through extensive service with the online support community 7 Cups as an Experienced Listener, Quality Mentor, and Community Mentor Leader, I have mentored developing volunteers and fostered safe, empathetic peer environments.

Wellness plan and counselor resilience

Sustainable clinical practice requires intentional self-care and authentic boundary setting. To cultivate long-term resilience and prevent burnout, I prioritize filling my own cup before serving others. My personal wellness strategy integrates regular rest days, mindful separation between professional responsibilities and personal restoration, and a continuous commitment to actively experiencing and enjoying life outside of clinical settings.
